Hello everyone, I'm Yu-Ren Tseng. I'd like to share the inspiration behind creating this Blender online course.

In late 2023, I was fortunate to gain significant attention for my work on Instagram. Around this time, many people started asking me how I achieved this painterly, NPR style with a thickly textured look.

Initially, I tried to answer everyone’s questions in text, but I soon realized that demonstrating my process through videos would be much more helpful in explaining how I create my work. This sparked the idea of producing tutorial videos. At first, this idea was very preliminary, and I didn’t take any concrete action. Since I’m self-taught in Blender and mainly focus on stylized creations, developing techniques and methods to achieve the specific style I envision, I sometimes feel my approach might not be entirely conventional. I worried that if I rushed into teaching, there was a risk of leading people in the wrong direction.

Just as I was hesitating, I received an invitation to teach a course from Seeducation. Over the years, I’ve received invitations from numerous online learning platforms, both local and international. Ultimately, I chose Seeducation who value the needs of students deeply just like me. We spent over half a year discussing and refining the course. Through this process, I gained a clearer understanding of who the students are and what they need. I became confident that I could share my learning experiences as someone who has been through it, giving those who appreciate my style a concrete way to practice and create.

    The course videos are pre-recorded, not live. We use pre-recorded videos to ensure a certain level of quality in the course content, including subtitles, text cards, and the removal of filler words during the narration.
    Once the course begins, you can watch the course videos anytime and anywhere on Seeducation official website. There is no view deadline, so you don’t have to worry about missing any lessons!

  • When does the course start?

    The course is scheduled to officially launch on 2025/04/10 22:00 (GMT+8), after successful crowdfunding. The course will be released in four phases.

  • What animation projects will the instructor share? Will his previous works be included?

    This course will focus on 7 animation projects, including Project 1: Monster in the Treasure Chest, Project 2: Toast Bar, Project 3: Robot, Project 4: Robot and Stream, Project 5: Robot and Thicket, Project 6: Robot and Airplane, and Project 7: Robot War. The previous works by Mr.Tseng shown on the course introduction webpage will not be specifically covered in the course.

  • What do I need to prepare before the class?

    Students should first download and install the Blender software. Blender is a free and open-source software, so there’s no additional cost to purchase it; you can download and install it directly from the Blender website. The course will use Blender version 4.3, and it will be demonstrated on a Windows system.

    No prior background or knowledge is required for this course, and you can watch the course content as many times as needed. As long as you have a willingness to learn, you are welcome to join us in learning 3D creation!

  • Recommended Software, Hardware, and Equipment for Blender?

    If you're a beginner, in addition to Blender's official recommendations, consider upgrading your GPU and RAM if your budget allows, as these two components play a major role in animation rendering. You can also refer to the setup used by Mr. Zeng: Intel i7 13700, RTX 4070 Ti, and 64GB RAM. This setup is better suited for intermediate and advanced learners!

  • Can I use Blender on a Mac?

    Of course! The only difference is the shortcuts. While the course will be demonstrated using Windows, we will also provide a separate handout with Mac-specific shortcuts for students to refer to.
